Throw a Dinner Party with 999 Others Hosts and Make a Difference

KitchenAid Stand Mixer - pink
You guys know that we have a pink KitchenAid® stand mixer, right? I mean, how could you not know? We plaster the site with pictures of its pretty-in-pinkness all the time.

Obviously, one of the reasons we have the pink one is that, you know, it’s pink. A more important reason though, is that KitchenAid donates part of the price of the pink KitchenAid® stand mixer to the Susan G. Komen for the Cure of breast cancer.

We kind of like that.

So, when KitchenAid mentioned an event that they’re sponsoring this month, we had to not only tell you about it, but really encourage you to participate.

1,000 Cooks for the Cure is a nationwide 3-day event during which cooks across the country host dinner parties, with all proceeds going to the Susan G. Komen Foundation. The goal is to have 1,000 parties registered through KitchenAid for this event, with each party raising a minimum of $50.

Want to throw a dinner party and make a difference?

Of course you do.

Sign up on the 1,000 Cooks for the Cure site, then gather your friends for a cocktail soiree, backyard cookout, or weekend brunch. Honestly, aren’t you going to do that kind of summer entertaining anyway? Instead of wine or flowers, encourage guests to bring a truly special host/hostess gift: a donation to Susan G. Komen for the Cure®. Raise a minimum of $50 in donations, and KitchenAid will also send you a Pass the Plate serving dish by mail upon receipt of your donations.

We’d love to see thousands of TasteSpotters throwing Cook for the Cure dinner parties and submitting gorgeous pictures to the site, too! To get you started, here are three summertime dinner party ideas with recipes pulled from TasteSpotting:

This is wonderful! I am completely on board with this. Sending out the party invite now!

I have a blog about dinner parties (and how I personally believe they can save the world – or at least american’s poor eating habits) and this is a great idea for socially responsible socializing.
