When it comes to lunch, it seems we usually resort to one of three things: a convenient sandwich, a virtuous salad, or comforting soup.
This week though, it doesn’t matter what your usual is. It only matters which country’s recipe — salad, sandwich or soup ‐ in the Mushroom Masters Lunch Battle is the best: Mushroom and Sweet Potato Salad from Australia, Butter Roasted Mushroom Sandwich from Canada, or Spicy Mushroom Miso Ramen from the USA.
Just a quick reminder: each week during the month of September we are featuring a head-to-head-to-head battle with food bloggers from Australia, Canada and the United States. Each blogger submits an original recipe and photo for that week’s selected mealtime. Last week was the Breakfast Battle (click over to see which country won!), and this week we have a fantastic Lunch lineup!
We have a tough competition with Alana from A Morish Distraction representing Australia, Tara of Seven Spoons from Canada, and Rachael, La Fuji Mama, representing the United States.
Take a look at each recipe (the three recipes are presented in alphabetical order by country), gaze at the gorgeous photos, and vote for the recipe you like best!
You can find the full recipe from each blogger on their respective country’s mushroom sites

I vote for Tara, Canada. Butter Roasted Mushroom Sandwich
Wow! Soup, salad and sandwich… so hard to choose… *cough cough* Sandwich!
Winter is coming, folks, at least in this hemisphere! That Ramen soup has a crisp afternoon warm-up written all over it! (Not that I’m biased…I do edit the USA’s Mushroom Channel blog:)
Yes, yes and yes please! All three! :)
But if I were to pick one, judging by the photos, I´d have to say the sandwich…
Mmmm crispy mushroom and sweet potato salad sounds fantastic!!!! Go Australia!!!!
I voted for Tara
The button mushroom and roasted sweet potato salad is unbelievable. We tried it totally awesome!Definitely a winner
Looks fantastic, I want a bowl of this soup right now! Way to go Rachael.
Is there even a question? Ramen rocks the shrooms. Thank you for a great recipe Rachael.
This soup has me actually wishing fall would come a little sooner, so that I can curl up with a book and a bowl of spicy mushroom ramen. Good luck, Rachael!
Does it get any better than crispy mushrooms and roasted sweet potato salad? Of course not! Go Australia. Go the Fungi Foursome….
You had me at “Spicy.” It’s got to be the Spicy Mushroom Miso Ramen.
Crispy mushrooms with a sweet potato salad sounds far out and i’m sure it’ll blow the other dishes outta the water. Alana ftw!! 8)
Well all three look fantastic as I love mushrooms but I’m an aussie so I voted for the sweet potato and mushroom salad – they look so crispy delicious.
Go Australia! Your salad is delicious Alana!
I’m Asian so noodles all the way! I can never turn away a bowl of steamy noodle soup, more so if there are mushrooms in it.
Oh wow,,., love all the 3 :)

Yummy mushroom sandwich!! I voted for Tara
Butter roasted mushroom sandwich is for me eh!
Whoo hoo for Canada!!
Anything to do with sweet potato is great and I like to have a light lunch. Bread is nice but you need something to get away from the normal lunch time blues. The paster dish looks to watery for me.

I’ll absolutely try *ramen* for lunch!
My vote goes to Rachael from USA – yum!!
I vote for Jennifer of Australia Crispy crunchie mushroom & roast sweet potato salard
