You can safely bet that for any food, no matter how obscure, strangely specific or unremarkable it is, there is an entire day dedicated to celebrating it.

You can also bet that for any food’s celebration day, it’s likely to be in October.

Okay, so that would be sort of impossible, but we were struck by how many more food holidays there seem to be in October than any other month of the year. In may be in part due to October’s being “National ___ Month” for so many things, but whatever the case, it means that we get to eat, drink and wish lots of “Merry ___!” all month long!

Check out the “holidays” below, calendar format first, list after. And yes, even though October does belong to so many other foods, it’s pretty obvious that it’s most importantly National Pumpkin Month. As such, we’ve picked our 30 favorite pumpkin recipes from TasteSpotting, one for each day of the month, minus one because it didn’t fit into a perfect grid.

Happy October foods!
