It’s Election Day here in the good ol’ U.S. of A., so we thought it fitting to giveaway a copy of the New American Table by James Beard award-winning chef, restaurateur and author Marcus Samuelsson…
This book isn’t about what we normally think of when we’re talking about “American food.” Burgers and fries. Barbecue. Fried chicken. Apple pie.
But really? American food isn’t just a specific set of foods, but more a unique amalgam of cultural cuisines that sometimes appear side by side on the same table, sometimes fuse together in the same dish. A recipe for Pad Thai and a recipe for Ethiopian Doro We’t. Chicken Satay with Garlic Feta Dip. Miso Rubbed Rack of Lamb. We expect nothing less than 300 similar recipes from a chef born in Ethiopia, raised in Sweden, and now cooking and living in America. The book is full of photos, not just of the foods, but little vignettes of American people and their lives. Lots of red, white, and blue!
How to Enter this Giveaway
- Leave a comment with YOUR FAVORITE AMERICAN FOOD! Guess what? This means you can basically say anything from apple pie to shepherd’s pie, from Korean tacos to Mexican lasagna, from pierogi to pirozhki because we all live and eat it here. Plus, it doesn’t matter what you say anyway, as this is a random drawing, but it does matter that you do comment with something.
- Make sure to enter your email address in the box provided so we can contact you
- Share this giveaway post with your friends on facebook and twitter! (not required, but we’d love the help!)
You have until next Monday November 12, 2012 at 5 PM PST to comment. Everyone is welcome to comment to enter, but we can only ship this stuff in the U.S. (So if you’re outside the US and win, you just need to provide us with a US mailing address to send!)
Good luck!
And by the way, in case anyone is wondering about us here in the TasteSpotting kitchen, we are currently obsessed with samosas and saag paneer (Indian food).
