A Totebag Full of Gourmet Good Things from Monsieur Marcel {giveaway}

Monsieur Marcel Gourmet Market, Los Angeles - shopping tote
You know how when someone gives you a birthday gift the first thing you want to do is scream with glee while tearing apart the wrapping paper? But what you actually do is very politely read the card first because that’s just polite and you don’t want to seem like you don’t really care about what’s in the card but want to see what surprise inside?! You know how you do that?! You know?!?!

This is TasteSpotting. We totally don’t expect you to read the card first. In fact, we didn’t even get you a card.

So we’re skipping to the good part, letting you rip open our second Birthday Gift to you to see all of the overwhelmingly awesome things from Monsieur Marcel Gourmet Market. (We’re going to tell you all about the market, but let’s do this giveaway first, ok?)

Monsieur Marcel Gourmet Market, Los Angeles - food products
Look at all this stuff! Some things to cook with, some things to season with, some things to take with you on a romantic little picnic with yourself at your kitchen counter, eating them straight out of the jar (um, hello, Grapefruit Basil Curd).

It’s like a market’s worth of gourmet food products exploded out of rooster shaped piñata onto the TasteSpotting Kitchen table! And then arranged themselves neatly onto a cutting board for a photo shoot.

This is what we have (in sort of left to right, back to front order in the picture):

  • Herbes de Provence Vinegar
  • Blueberry Vinegar
  • Black Truffle Olive Oil (!!!)
  • Borracho y Loco Beer Hot Sauce
  • Thai Red Chile Hot Sauce
  • Grapefruit Basil Curd
  • Dried Lavender
  • Jalapeno Pepper Jelly
  • Fig Jam
  • Dried Shiitake Mushrooms
  • Dried Porcini Mushrooms (!!!)
  • Espelette Pepper Mustard
  • Whole Grain Dijon Market
  • Quince Paste (!!!)
  • Cornichons
  • Artisan Salt Sampler (if you win and this doesn’t arrive in your package, um, we didn’t “accidentally” keep this one for ourselves, we swear *ahem*)
  • Pink Himalayan Sea Salt Grinder
  • White Peppercorns
  • obviously, you get the blue shopping tote, too!

Doesn’t it all sound awesome?! It should. It’s more than $250 worth of goodness!! (And probably at least that much in shipping it all!)

Am I using too many exclamation points?! I’m sorry! I’m excited to give this away to someone!!!

How to Enter this Giveaway

Pay attention. There is one thing you must do. It’s a little more complicated than yesterday’s giveaway (which is still going on!). So read carefully.

1. Visit www.mrmarcel.com and pick out your favorite product that’s NOT listed above as part of the giveaway 2. Leave this comment on TasteSpotting’s facebook wall: “I love ___ from Monsieur Marcel Market!” and fill in the blank with the product you picked! (Obviously, you have to LIKE us to leave a comment, so do that first!)

It doesn’t matter what you say. It only matters that you say something so just pick anything and pretend like you love it.

You have until Monday midnight pacific time. Look, like, comment, and stay tuned for tomorrow’s Birthday Gift-away!

But before you go (or go and come back), here’s us gushing a little bit about Monsieur Marcel, a gourmet food market and restaurant in LA.

How do You Say “Gush” in French?

See, this giveaway didn’t materialize because some random PR person contacted us and offered to do a giveaway and we said okay because like, Hey! Yeah! We’ll take free stuff to give to our readers! even if we’ve never used or bought or endorsed the product before.

We’ve actually dined on the sidewalk at Monsieur Marcel in Santa Monica. It’s very French. We’ve actually sipped a glass or two of Champagne on the patio at Monsieur Marcel in West Hollywood. Also, very Frenchy French. Long before TasteSpotting was even born. And we shop at Monsieur Marcel for pretty, delicious, random little French things. In fact, Monsieur Marcel saved my rookie @$$ when I realized that duck confit for Thomas Keller’s Duck Confit Quinoa Salad that I was in the middle of making, takes like you know three weeks to make before hand. Or something.

Monsieur Marcel carries already-made duck confit in their refrigerated/freezer section.

As well as a whole bunch of other things, which you’ve discovered because you just looked through their website, right?!

Really though, we relied on Monsieur Marcel for hardish-to-find French food products in the past because…well, French food goes with French wine and that’s our current obsession. (But that’s a post for a different blog.) But only recently did we realize that Monsieur Marcel also carries pretty much a lot of stuff. Breads. Cheeses. Charcuterie. Olives. Chocolate and pastries. WINE. All kinds of salts, peppers, spices and herbs. And it’s not just French (as you see). I bought fish sauce there last week when I didn’t have it in me to drive 50 minutes to a Vietnamese market in Orange County.

We’re done gushing now. Here are a few close-ups of some of the giveaway items that we like a lot. A lot. Like that set of salts!!!

And we’re done with exclamation points, too.

Happy Birthday to us!

Would love to do your contests, but Facebook requires verification with either giving them my cell phone number or a credit card number. And Facebook doesn’t need that.

But <3 for the Monsieur Marcel. All the best!

Tastespotting, Happy Birthday. I love all of these giveaways but it bothers me that you have to have a facebook account to be able to enter and have a slight chance of winning. But what about those of us, like me, that do not have facebook accounts? I personally think facebook is an invasion of privacy for the whole world to see everything that occurs in your everyday life. Is there any other way non-facebook account holders could enter the giveaway?
