Is one of your resolutions for the New Year to lock in a “hot date” for that big day in February?
And no, we’re not talking about the Super Bowl (February 2).
Oh, but we’re also not talking about Valentine’s Day (that’s February 14).
We are talking about February 4, which this year, will be the very first National Medjool Date Day! (Get it? Hot date? Medjool dates? Ok, sorry.)…
You guys know how much we love food holidays, right? So you know that when Natural Delights Medjool Dates gave us a chance to help make February 4 a day dedicated to celebrating that super-naturally sweet fruit, we couldn’t possibly let it pass.
On February 4, we are celebrating Medjool Dates by letting the TasteSpotting community takeover the front page (and beyond) of the site with Medjool Date recipes for the entire day!
How to Celebrate National Medjool Date Day with Us on Feb 4:
We would LOVE for you to participate in making this inaugural date (oh, trust us, the puns will never stop) a sweet success. Here’s how:
1. Make a dish with Medjool dates. (Sometime soon.)
2. Post your gorgeous photos and recipe to your blog. (Sometime soon after that.)
3. Submit it to TasteSpotting. (Submit your post by Monday, February 3.)
That’s it. We’ll take it from there with the usual moderating, editing, and of course, publishing to the front page of TasteSpotting on Tuesday, February 4.
Need Some Medjool Date Recipe Ideas?
Yeah, we know. We asked the same thing. “Who cooks with Medjool dates?! When we get our hands on those little bits of awesome, we just pop them straight into our mouths.” Our “recipe”: 1. Grab Medjool date. 2. Eat it.
The thing is, there are a lot of dishes that incorporate dates! We found over 1,000 recipes on TasteSpotting alone, and highlighted 25 of our favorites above. And while TasteSpotting is the unvierse to us, we will admit that there is an entire world of ideas out there on the web. Heck you can go straight to the Natural Delights Medjool Dates site for recipe inspiration!
Medjool dates are a natural source of sweetness, so they make a great substitute for straight-up sugar in a lot of recipes. In the 25 recipes we pulled from TasteSpotting above to get your creative recipe juices flowing, there are breads, cakes and cookies that all include dates as a source of sweetness!
Of course, dates aren’t only about working on that “cut down on refined sugar” resolution. Bacon-wrapped dates, date shakes, and sticky toffee pudding are dishes (and drinks) that simply feature dates in all their pure, delicious glory. We’ve included a few of those recipes in the 25 above as well. Stay tuned over the next couple of weeks, too. We’ll be posting reminders for you guys with more recipes.
No Blog? No Problem.
Oh, you don’t have a blog? Don’t worry. As long as you take a SUPER FANTASTIC photo of your dish (see our guidelines here) and a full recipe, you can email it to us and we will post it right here on our Features section for you, then submit it to TasteSpotting.com Email us at firstname.lastname@example.org if you are going this route.
Here are some questions we thought you might have:
- Where can I get Natural Delights Medjool Dates? Use this handy map to find a retailer near you, or you can always order Medjool dates on line.
Ok, that’s it, just one question. We are trying to think of other questions you might have, but what are we, mind readers? If you have a question, leave it in the comments of this post and we will answer it so that everyone has the benefit of the answer! Unless it’s a stupid question. Then please email us. We don’t want to embarrass you in public.
Got everything? Great! Now head into the kitchen and get ready for your hot (Medjool) date!
