Today in TasteSpotting School, we’re doing a little bit of Science, specifically, Chemistry, which was our second worst subject in school and probably the deciding factor in our college major selection, choosing the furthest thing from science that could still get us into medical school (economics, and no, we never ended up goiong to medical school.) …
We think of baking as science. It requires precise measurement. It requires specific environmental and atmospheric situations. It requires patience and perfection and those are things that we just don’t have (at least not in the kitchen, right?) And when you add yeast to the equation for things like bread? We try not to even think about that.
Someday we will conquer this fear that is probably just in our heads, but until then, we’re giving away this set of baking cookbooks: the world-reknown Artisan Bread in Five Minutes a Day by Jeff Hertzberg, MD (see?! a doctor! I told you it was science!) and Zoe Francois, and The Everything Pie Cookbook which is absolutely the perfect thing to have on hand with all this seasonal and holiday baking coming up.
How to Enter this Cookbook Giveaway (one person gets both books!)
- Leave a comment with your favorite kind of PIE! All-American Apple Pie? Silky Smooth Chocolate Pudding Pie? Something savory like a Chicken Pot Pie?! (Yes there are savory recipes in the Pie Cookbook, too.) Don’t worry if you don’t eat pie (like me), just make something up. It doesn’t matter what you say, as this is a random drawing, but it does matter that you do comment with something.
- Make sure to enter your email address in the box provided so we can contact you
- Share this giveaway post with your friends on facebook and twitter! (not required, but we’d love the help!)
You have until Friday September 14, 2012 at 5 PM PST to comment. Everyone is welcome to comment to enter, but we can only ship this stuff in the U.S. (So if you’re outside the US and win, you just need to provide us with a US mailing address to send!)
(And by the way, in case anyone is wondering, even though I am not a pie person, I do like a Fresh Strawberry Pie every once in a while.)
