All-mond Oatmeal for National Amond Day – The Oatmeal Project, Day 16

All-mond Steel Cut Oats: Almond Milk, Almond Butter, Almonds[The Oatmeal Project, Day 16: “All-mond” (cooked with almond milk, topped with almond butter and sliced almonds)]

For National Almond Day, we thought we’d go all-in, “all-mond,” if you will (oh, and you will).

We were originally inspired by Lauren’s comment about cooking oats with almond milk because we had a carton of almond milk in the fridge that we bought for “health” but hadn’t opened yet because we weren’t sure how to use it. Now we know what to do with almond milk.

We didn’t actually cook the oats in the almond milk — we just stirred it into the pot when we re-heated oats we had cooked previously. They turned out creamier than usual, and with a dollop of almond butter (which sort of “melted” into the oats from the warmth) and sliced almonds, just as delicious.

Thanks for the tip, Lauren!

there is so much to do with almond milk!! I’ve been drinking it instead of dairy milk for almost 2 years now! i use it making ice cream, and over cereal… I’ve pretty much replaced all the dairy in my life with almond or soy and the like! :)
